The project began with a letter from the client requesting a "small but spectacular" home for a site in the Adirondack Mountains. The design responds directly to the landscape, with each volume oriented toward a specific mountain peak, resulting in a series of canted forms that frame distinct views.
The house is set into the hillside, with a walk-in guest room carved into the terrain. The upper level contains the primary living spaces, including a bedroom, kitchen, living area, and writing desk. A weathered wood exterior allows the building to recede into the surrounding forest of spruce, fir, and pine, grounding the house within its context.
